Hilliardton Marsh Ranger Summer Crew!
The Hilliardton Marsh Research and Education Centre (HMREC) is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in being part of our 2019 Ontario Stewardship Ranger crew. Crew members will perform a number of light manual labour duties at the Hilliardton Marsh and other locations in the area, and be introduced to a variety of natural resources related projects and activities.
There are 5 positions available, one crew leader position and four work crew positions. All positions involve extensive outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions and may require participation in some overnight trips. The primary work site will at the Hilliardton Marsh, and is where crew members will report for their daily duties. Transportation from The Marsh will be provided if work is to be conducted at an off-site location.
Strong public relation skills, songbird knowledge, bird banding experience, ability to work well with youth, and first-hand knowledge of the Hilliardton Marsh are considered strong assets. Successful candidates should demonstrate leadership qualities, as well as organizational and communications skills.
To be eligible for crew positions, you must currently be a secondary school student, and be returning to school (secondary or post-secondary) full time in September of 2019.
To be eligible for the crew lead position, you must be a post-secondary student or graduate with experience in fields related to biology, environmental studies, or natural resource management. Previous crew experience will be considered an asset
